USA Takes Down Russia 2-1 Behind Goals from Wahlstrom, Chmelevski

The United States took down Russia 2 to 1 behind goals from Oliver Wahlstrom and Alexander Chmelevski.

Grigori Denisenko scored for Russia.

Cayden Primeau was without a doubt, the best player on the ice tonight the Americans. He was calm in goal, and consistently came up with big stops down the stretch.

Jack Hughes made a statement yet again, showing off his speed and skill, especially on the power play, assisting on Chmelevski’s goal in the second.

Ryan Poehling was a calming presence for USA today in  the win. His veteran leadership has consistently showed up and big moments for the Americans, it is something that he brings for St. Cloud State and it’s something that he is consistently showed in the World Junior tournament.

Kirill Slepets was fantastic today for Russia, showing off his world class speed, as well as his ability to forecheck very well. He was an impact player in this game today.

Denisenko was an impact player today for the Russians. The Florida Panthers prospect has an incredible amount of skill and is a very bright prospect for the Florida Panthers organization. He roof a great goal over the left shoulder of Cayden Primeau, tallying the only goal that the Russians would score.

The USA will face Finland in the Gold Medal game.
