Union defeated Northeastern 4-3 on Friday night in Boston on a game winning goal from Cole Maier.
Brett Supinski scored two goals for Union in the first period to get things rolling, tied at 2-2, followed in the third period on a goal by Sebastian Vidmar, setting up OT, where Maier won it on a broken play.
All four goals were scored by seniors tonight for the Dutchmen. Supinski had three points on the night (2G, 1A). Darion Hanson made 37-40 saves on the night coming away with a very solid win for an up-and-coming Union team.
Tyler Madden, Liam Pecararo and Lincoln Griffin scored the goals for the Huskies tonight. Brandon Davies also had two points.
WHO STOOD OUT?
Hanson made a number of very good stops in the win, which most likely won the game for Union.
Madden, son of former NHL player John Madden tallied two points on the night for the Huskies, clearly has a bright future at the program. He’s got the speed and the hands to be a contributor for years to come at the program and beyond.
Jordan Harris, a freshman out of Kimball Union (N.H.) has a lot of upside playing on the blue line for the Huskies. He could end up being an impact player as early as this year.
Supinski always just seemed to be in the right place at the right time in the win. He tallied two goals and an assist in the win. The senior could be a vital piece in the offense for Union this year as they look to get some momentum to start the year.
